Reality beat expectations at t' Spoor - jullie maaltijden en sfeer zijn heerlijk! This is a full review, so get ready 🤩
I found out about t' Spoor from a simple Google search while my husband and I were in the area. The reviews looked very promising and photos didn't disappoint, so we came in. Although we don't have kids, I liked how reviews mentioned the kid-friendly atmosphere. There is a separate kids play room where children can hang out and it looks like they could even eat there. The bonus here is that hungry children don't bother the rest of the clientele. Good thinking, management!
Our waitress let us sit where we like as there weren't too many others in the restaurant (we came around 8:30pm on a Thursday), and told us about their daily specials, which already sounded good. Specials were also artistically displayed on boards around the restaurant. She took our drink order (2 bitter lemons at a fair standard price of €2,50) and left us with some really cool - looking menus to explore.
We ordered the 3-course Thursday special (€30,50) upon suggestion by our waitress (thanks!). Now, let's talk taste. As starters, my king crab app was light and well-balanced, letting each delicate flavour shine through. The naan bread was delightfully thin and flavoirful, which I found appropriate for the app size. If it was thicker, this could have been a meal on its own. I was also just so happy to see and taste real King crab instead of pollock. For my husband, his yellowfin tuna tataki was fresh and beautifully presented. He did mention that the picalilly was a little strong against the softness of the tuna, but the rest had a great texture variation and flavour match. We already sensed talent from the kitchen at this point.
As for mains, my zeewolf was picture-perfect (photos attached) and served at that temperature where the heat stays thoroughly in each bite, captured by the mass of the (perfectly seared) white fish and the residual heat of the greens underneath. I don't know what they did to cook the mushrooms but they were great. My husband had the tournedos with chimichurri and it may have been the best steak he's ever eaten. Each bite was as tender as the last and the chimichurri sauce just exploded with complimentary flavour. As an amateur cook, I especially appreciated the glaze on the accompanying carrots, asparagus and potatoes. Excellent attention to detail from the chefs.
We didn't have time to stay in-restaurant for the desserts, but our chef still took time to make our takeaway cheesecakes look incredible. Our compliments to the ingenuity of the kitchen, the creative menu and lovely team. Give the kitchen a reward: we loved them. We aren't from the area but will absolutely make our way back in the future to sample more! 😍🎉
Zalige avond gehad. Super vriendelijke bediening.
