Hartje Oost, my home away from home. I have been coming to Hartje Oost for good on two years and will continue to do so. When I first moved into the street I wanted to find a place that I could make my local. I have found that in Hartje Oost! Over the course of a few months I have come to consider the staff as friends and neighbours and am consistently pleased at the friendliness and professionalism thereof. The location is optimal with the sunlight hitting the cozy terrace while you watch the Javastraat spring to life. As soon as you walk in you are met with a greeting and the staff is very inviting. The inside is quaint and "gezellig" and boasts a broad selection of lunch options (I would suggest the Smoking Barrel). The quality of the produce used in their menu is locally sourced and always fresh, and the portions are sumptuous and delicious! Furthermore, the coffee they offer is by far my favorite on the Javastraat, if not Oost! The people behind the counter are conscientious and openminded. Whether I come with family, friends, boyfriend, or by myself, Hartje Oost is, for me, a little slice of heaven here on the Javastraat!
